JOB TITLE:
Glass Studio Assistant: 20 hours a week
JOB SUMMARY:
Stern Glass Works is a community glass art studio in the SE Oak Park neighborhood. We are a small operation that emphasizes community, team work, and inclusivity. We are located directly off the blue line in a cute and busy business block. We are in need of a studio assistant to bolster our efforts in maintaining our studio so it is always ready for use by students, studio members, and community members.
A studio assistant will provide studio organization and cleaning, inventory tracking, basic client engagement, material preparation, emailing, errands, etc. This role will utilize creative problem solving and organizational skills, physical strength and social skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Keep working areas organized
Clean all areas of studio including: tools, floors, bathroom, work stations, etc.
Weekly inventory tracking and updating the corresponding digital systems.
Interfacing with clients for supply sales, questions and messages.
Email management
Familiarity and assistance managing studio calendar and events
Assistance with special events
approx. 4 per year
Drivers license and ability to do errands
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Physical Labor:
Able to work while sitting, standing, crouching
Can get up and down from the floor/work on the floor when needed
Is able to lift 50 lbs to move objects/materials.
Willing to wear a mask/glasses when necessary for PPE
Knows how to use a drill, hammer, & feels comfortable learning new tools (power & manual)
Inventory Tracking:
Basic computer knowledge
Measuring with a tape measure
Client Engagement
Patient and friendly
Open to talking to strangers
Basic Computer skills
Comfortable being the only person in the studio at times
Independence
Self-starter with work
Comfortable asking questions and requesting clarity when needed
Comfortable making decisions and working without supervision
Age / Education
18 yrs or older
High school or equivalent
All aspects of the jobs will be trained
Glass, sculpture, wood, or similar experience preferred but not required
Software training provided
